Property Company of Friends, Inc. (PRO-FRIENDS) promotes care for the environment and sustainability in the communities it builds. Its flagship project, Lancaster New City, which spans the towns of Gen. Trias, Imus and Kawit in Cavite, has further evolved into an environment-friendly community as thousands of its resident families participate in annual tree planting activities, join in clean-up drives, and practice proper waste management. Through PRO-FRIENDS' Solid Waste Management and Galing LNC movement, Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) have been set up in various phases to collect recyclable bottles. Orientations and seminars are also conducted to teach and encourage homeowners to support the green environment campaign.

Recently, Lancaster New City inaugurated its very own Eco Hub, which features a mechanized composting facility to process household waste collected from its residents. The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in General Trias has commended this effort: “Ikinakatuwa namin sa CENRO na may facility katulad dito sa Lancaster New City dito sa atin sa Gen. Trias. Kami din ay natutuwa na ang waste segregation ay promoted dito sa LNC, hindi lang dahil ito ay bahagi ng batas, bagkus importante sa pangangalaga sa ating komunidad,” said CENRO-Gen. Trias Officer Kenneth Castillo during the Eco Hub inauguration.

The Solid Waste Management program in Lancaster New City began in April 2015. To raise awareness, information campaigns were implemented to echo the waste segregation and the use of the MRFs. In April 2017, PRO-FRIENDS, through Lancaster New City received a Certificate of Commendation from the Local Government of General Trias for taking the initiative to build and operate a Materials Recovery Facility within the community, and for the dedication and effort to educate its homeowners on the benefits of Solid Waste Management. As a result, the program has greatly contributed to the reduction of the city’s waste.
